Who are we
ABBA is a non-profit organization missioned to support and foster new-born babies and their families by providing them with a starter care package with myriads of important items needed for everyday lives raising a baby. We have a team of volunteers who passionately crochet baby beanies and other essential baby care items, and provide them to families in need.

I had already developed a love for crocheting, initially making scarves and blankets for Christmas boxes for the Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion and my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. Wanting to do more, I spoke with my school nurse who had previously worked in a NICU, to understand how I could possibly help these families. Through these conversations, I learned that scent is one of the strongest triggers of connection between a mother and her baby. From that moment, an idea took form. I could crochet something that carries scent. This became the bonding blanket.
In Year 11, I launched a project to support NICU babies and their mothers during their separation by founding a club called Sweet Stitch Crochet. Alongside a team of dedicated student volunteers, I began creating bonding blankets made of paired crochet squares that transfer scent between mother and baby, helping to preserve their connection while apart. These blankets offer both emotional and physical benefits, from comforting babies through the familiarity of their mother’s scent to supporting breast milk supply.

A child's wellbeing starts with their upbringing. Currently, within the presence of raging conflicts, constant inflation and intensifying living conditions due to changing climate; many mothers worldwide, including Thai, struggle to raise their child/children properly from the earliest age onwards.

ABBA (Angel's Baby Basket Aid) was born from a profound sense of absence. When I moved to a boarding school in the UK, I became aware of the distance that formed between me and my mother. That experience led me to question whether such separation could occur even earlier, before a bond has the chance to fully take shape.
This thought resurfaced when I read about premature babies placed in Neonatal Intensive Care Units, separated from their mothers at birth Their connection is disrupted at the very moment it should be forming.

During the summer following Year 11, I was determined to expand this initiative further. This led to the creation of ABBA, an organisation dedicated to supporting newborns and their families during their most vulnerable early stages. Together with my team, we aim to create meaningful impact through small but powerful acts of care, guided by the belief that even the smallest kindness can make a lasting difference.
